Re: writing in same color

As an art instructor I've seen children and adults consistently drawn to the same personal colors. Sometimes little girls who are friends will choose similar colors (pink and purple are favorites). However, most people don't consider others when making their color choices. I've also noticed that my grandson has chosen purple crayons over all other colors since he was a baby.
Johannes Itten at the Bauhaus school in Germany noticed that his painting students were drawn repeatedly to using certain colors in their palettes. His observations lead him to conclude that color choices were related to individuals' personal coloring (hair, eye and complexion colors). He categorized colors into 4 groups that correspond to the seasons: 1. warm and clear (Spring) 2. cool and muted (Summer) 3. warm and muted (Autumn) 4. cool and clear (Winter) Carole Jackson wrote a book about color in fashion called 'Color Me Beautiful' in which she discussed personal color preferences. She mentions Itten's research. I first read it in the 1980s as an art student. It's now out of print but a copy might be able to be found in a second hand bookstore.
